I’ve wanted to be a pilot for as long as I can remember. As a young kid I remember taking flights in little Cessnas at a local airport. And when I was very young, my parents took me to Florida to see a certain mouse. My face was glued to the window. I love exploring the world, but, this is a perspective that I just couldn’t get enough of.

The most thrilling day of my life was when my wife purchase for me a flying lesson for my birthday. I got to fly the plane for about 45 minutes. The flight instructor said I was a natural. He even let me take off from a little airport where we stopped for a bit of food for lunch.
Even later, I would park my car a local model air plane fields and watch people fly their planes for hours. I think they probably got tired of all my questions. But I still longed for my own.
As usually, life gets busy, working, and other responsibilities “get in the way” and I was never able to get my fix for flying. Flying for work, I would not look for direct flights so I could experience the take of and landings multiple times 🙂
So my interest kept growing, but, my experience with remote controlled cars and trucks left me nervous. How could I fly a model airplane if I couldn’t even control a car without hitting EVERYTHING in sight.
A friend of mine in Buffalo NY had a drone and told me how simple it was to fly. I started researching drones and watching YouTube videos for almost 3 years. I learned all of the basics and narrowed my choices. In October 2021, I bought my first “real” drone. I’ll get more into that if a future post.
